What is Krok 1
Krok 1 is the first stage of Ukraine's licensing integrated exam for medical, dental and pharmacy students. It is usually taken after the third year of study and tests the basic sciences you need to understand clinical medicine.
Krok 1 questions are short scenarios: you rarely just recall a fact. You need to explain a mechanism — which enzyme is blocked, which nerve is damaged, why a condition develops.
Which subjects Krok 1 covers
For Medicine, the core subjects are anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathophysiology, pathology and pharmacology. Dentistry adds head and neck anatomy and oral histology; Pharmacy adds pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy.
How to prepare for Krok 1
A four-step system works best:
- Diagnose: one full timed Krok 1 booklet to find your weakest subjects
- Review mistakes: work out the mechanism behind every wrong answer
- High-yield first: master the topics that repeat across years
- Stamina: full tests without breaks in the last two weeks
